About Me

I served as the Chief Medical Officer for AHF since 2013.  I've been treating HIV/AIDS patients since 1987.  I subsequently formed my own private practice specializing in the treatment of persons with HIV/AIDS.  In addition to my own private practice, I became the Medical Director of an innovative AIDS hospice outreach program.  In that role, I developed some of the nation’s first hospice guidelines specifically for AIDS patients. This led to me serving on the Medical Guidelines Task Force where I wrote hospice guidelines for terminally ill patients with AIDS.  From 2000 to 2010, I was the Medical Director for Special Immunology Services at Mercy Hospital in Miami. I joined AHF in September 2011 when AHF acquired my practice.  In August 2012, I became the Regional Medical Director of AHF’s Southern Bureau, where I oversaw medical operations and expansions in Florida, Georgia, Atlanta, Texas, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Mississippi. Now, I'm the Chief Medical Officer for AHF. I have been extensively involved in HIV clinical research for 30 years and has served as Principal Investigator in over 60 clinical trials.

Fun Fact: Prior to attending medical school, I attended law school at the University of Arizona. After receiving my Juris Doctor (JD) and passing the bar exam, I spent 3 unhappy years working as an attorney. I am MUCH happier being a doctor.
