About Me

I am the medical director of the AHF Healthcare Centers - Westside, Redondo Beach, and Long Beach. I have chosen to practice HIV medicine because it's complex, fascinating, and impactful. I believe that there will be a cure for HIV in my lifetime, and if I can help by practicing HIV medicine, treating, and one day curing people of HIV, I couldn't imagine doing anything else!

During my training as an infectious diseases specialist, a highlight was when I worked in Malawi, Africa, a resource-limited country caring for people living with HIV. Taking care of people who would travel for hours to days to see a doctor was a difficult but humbling experience, especially when I could only provide a prayer.

My special interests include travel medicine and HIV prevention.

Fun Fact: I am an advanced SCUBA diver and have dived the best dive sites all over the world. I've seen a barracuda tornado at Barracuda Point, Sipadan Island, Borneo, and Malaysia! I've also done global work in rural Guatemala and Malawi, Africa. A non-medical skill that has been invaluable to the way I practice medicine is traveling. I have traveled to almost| 70 countries and have lived and studied in 5 different countries, whether during study abroad programs or during my medical training. I can speak English and Spanish and am conversant in French.
