Dr. Dahlia Philips, MD

About Me

I am the Medical Director of the AHF Healthcare Center: Bronx HCC. I have been caring for people living with HIV since I began my medical career in 2010. My passion for HIV medicine was sparked during a pediatric infectious disease rotation in medical school where I witnessed the groundbreaking discovery that intravenous AZT could prevent perinatal HIV transmission. That moment inspired me to dedicate my career to supporting individuals and communities affected by HIV.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in both private practice and public health settings, which has given me a broad perspective on the challenges and opportunities in HIV care. What drew me to AHF was its deep commitment to patients – not just in providing exceptional medical care but also through public advocacy that empowers communities and drives meaningful change.

I’m passionate about building strong, trusting relationships with my patients and ensuring everyone has access to high-quality, compassionate care. My commitment to serving underserved populations is at the heart of my practice, and I’m dedicated to educating about HIV to promote equitable healthcare and help stop the epidemic.

In addition to my clinical work, I have a strong interest in clinical research and have contributed to several publications during my career. I’m particularly interested in expanding research into minority populations to ensure clinical trials reflect the diverse communities affected by HIV.

As a trilingual physician fluent in English, with moderate fluency in Spanish and Arabic, I strive to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where all patients feel heard and supported. At AHF, I’m honored to partner with you on your health journey and provide the care and advocacy you deserve.

Fun Fact: When I’m not working, I enjoy hiking and exploring new trails, as it helps me recharge and find balance. These experiences often remind me of the importance of resilience and perspective, values I bring into my practice every day. I also enjoy cycling and running as part of my active lifestyle.

Additionally, I am actively enrolled in a Healthcare MBA program, which allows me to deepen my understanding of healthcare systems and explore innovative ways to advance medicine and improve patient care. This blend of personal and professional growth drives my commitment to evolving alongside the needs of the communities I serve.
